Welcome to the Mountain Region! Tall peaks, soaring vistas, and a rock climbing challenge (or 10) await those who travel here! Whether you would like to make connections on your journey, or find a place to call home, don’t let the tall peaks and Aberfa’s elusive nature deter you!
The greenery of the outer mountains paints a fairytale picture, with lush forests and not as extreme of a climb. However once you get to the heart of the mountains, the tall bare peaks rise high above, seeming to disappear into the sky. The tallest of peaks are perpetually capped in snow, and traveling without a guide can present quite the challenge. Many pathways outside of tamed land tend to be those made over time by the passage of other animals, and can often lead in random twists and turns. Sometimes going through the heart of the mountain region really is a mind game.
The Mountains Region shares borders with 3 other regions. The land along the border varies according to region.
Plains Border: The mountains close to the plains are mostly forested, lively places. As you approach the plains the mountains seem to lose their edge, forming into rolling hills with less trees and more open grasslands.
Swamp Border: The forested mountains continue along the swamp border, but as one gets closer to the swamp the trees tend to stay. The lowlands of the swamp are often covered by water, fading into a gorgeous bayou.
Desert Border: The Mountains begin to fade and change, forming into red clay plateaus, and wind carved canyons and crevasses. The land opens up, giving you a true view of your surroundings from atop the plateaus. The canyons however, carved by the wind, don’t really have much rhyme or reason to them, and tend to meander in strange directions before you find your way out.
