Haukea’s Haiku:
Winter sprang
Upon the land
Bringing snow
To those at hand
Across the swamp
The white did cover
I heard a plea
To her lover
From afar
My weary eyes
Watched a pair
Make snow fly
Warmth spread
Through my heart
As children played
And made snow art
Coyotes yipped
The blue stag’s sly
It was time to rest
With a happy sigh
When I awoke
To bright green eyes
Tea was set
To my surprise
A box they had
It was a gift
They waved goodbye
My going swift.
Snow may melt
Days may fade
I brought joy and love
And that happiness stayed.
