FAQ

Why is it called Chime?
  • When a Quirlicorn is born into the world, a special set of wind chimes is dedicated to their growth and development. A testament to their personalities and powers. Each Magical Region may have a specific type of wind chimes they use for identifying each individually and to differentiate themselves from each other. By no means does this mean there is a lack of diversity among the chimes! Quirlicorns may choose to stylize their set of chimes however they see fit so long as it still resembles their Regions magic!
What are Chime Points?
  • Chime Points are an art based reward system we use to help give a Quirlicorn Achievements, Status, and Perks! These can be earned by reaching certain Levels of Chime with a Quirlicorn, unlocking new goodies with each new level gained.
What are Magical Regions?
  • The Magical Regions, or Regions, are the areas in which the Quirlicorns magics are rooted. Each Region has their own specific type of magic associated with them, which can be harnessed through leveling up a Quirlicorns Chimp Points. For more information, please see the Regional Magics journal.
Does a Quirlicorn have to live in their selected Region?
  • Not at all! A Quirlicorn may choose to live in any Region or Regions they desire! The only benefit of being in the Magical Region the Quirlicorns power comes from, would be a slight amplification of their magical powers.
How does a Quirlicorn pick a Region?
  • If a Quirlicorn is an Anomaly/Mutation or affected by the Wandering Spirit Dew, they will be All Regions! This means a Quirlicorn may pick magic from any Region they desire! However, if a Quirlicorn is without one or all of these, they may select a singular Region only. If a Quirlicorn is an Import they may pick from any one Region they desire! If a Quirlicorn is a bred foal, they may only select from the Regions of their parents. If one or both of the foals parents are ‘All Regions’ they may select any one Region they desire.
What is the best way to keep track of a Quirlicorns Chime?
  • The owner is responsible for keeping track of a Quirlicorn’s Chime and sending notes to the group for Chime Checks. The owner may keep track of the Quirlicorn’s Chime Points in an organized journal, listing all art and literature of the Quirlicorn with specified amounts for each piece with a total listed for all the Chime Points earned. Example: Quirlicorn Chime Tracker Lay-Out Template

How does a Quirlicorn earn Chime Points?

Are there any restrictions to earning Chime Points?

  •  Each background or character piece will only count ONCE, EVER.
  • There must be actual manipulation visible to have a Photo-Manipulation count. Pasting multiple stock files together without alteration will NOT count.

Are there restrictions on Collaborations/Role-Plays?

  • If the Quirlicorn is evenly used throughout the entirety of role-play, they would gain the chime from the entirety of the role-play.
  • If the Quirlicorn is only present for a section of the role-play, they only gain the Chime for their time in it.
  • If the Quirlicorn is MENTIONED it does not gain the Chime from the role-play. The Quirlicorn must be present to receive Chime.

Chime Trackers

Why do I need a Chime Tracker?

 

Chime Trackers are an important part of being able to level up your Quirlicorns through the Chime levels.  We highly recommend getting your trackers started early on, before you have too much art to add to it and it becomes overwhelming.  

Regardless of when you opt to create your trackers, just be aware that you can not unlock Chime levels without them.  If you aren’t interested in unlocking any of the rewards (including magics etc) you do not have to create Chime Trackers.  They are literally only required for unlocking the rewards at the various Chime Levels.

 

How do I make a Chime Tracker?

Chime trackers have a lot of options.  At the heart of it essentially all you need is a place to store/track links to all of the art of your Quirlicorn. 
We have a Forum dedicated to trackers which you are free to use for your trackers.  
If using DeviantArt’s sta.sh is more your cup of tea, this is a good example of how to set it up

No matter how or where you choose to set up your trackers, as long as art is linked with a clear Chime count for each piece, you’re golden! 

Art Values

  • Headshot Lineart – +01 Chime
    • Headshot is less than 50% of the body visible

     examples: 1 | 2

  • Fullbody Lineart – +02 Chime
    • Fullbody is 60% or more of the body visible.

     examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

  • Headshot – +02 Chime
    • Headshot is less than 50% of the body visible

     examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

  • Fullbody – +04 Chime
    • Fullbody is 60% or more of the body visible.

     examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

  • Detailed Background – +02 Chime
    • Flat colors, gradients, etc. will NOT count.

     examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

  • Simple Animation – +03 Chime
    • Simple is a small moving part (ie: a blink, an ear turn, one leg moving, etc)

     examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

  • Complex Animation – +05 Chime
    • Complex is most or all of the image moving (ie: multiple limbs moving, background motion, etc)

     examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 

  • Every 250 Words – +01 Chime
    • 500 Words would be +02, 750 Words would be +03, 1000 Words would be +04, and so on.
  • Familiar and Guardian Bonus – +03 Chime
    • This is a flat amount regardless of how many Guardians or Familiars are present in the image.
    • Bonus only applies to the Quirlicorn the familiar or Guardian belongs too.
    • Quirlicorn must be pictured with the familiar or Guardian to earn Chime Points.
  • Training Image – +01 Chime
    • Any image showing a Quirlicorn training for a competition of any kind.
  • Show Image – +01 Chime
    • An Image made to participate in a Show or Event.
  • Placing Bonus – +02 Chime
    • Earned by a Quirlicorn for placing in a Show or Event
  • Affiliate Breed Bonus – +01 Chime
    • Earned by including a horse from a breed officially affiliated with Quirlicorns.

Unlocking Chime Levels

How do I unlock Chime Levels for a Quirlicorn?


By sending a ‘Chime Check’ thread to our Chime Check Forum! In this thread, we will need a few essential items, as well as information on what the Quirlicorn would desire to have with the Level that has been unlocked. The thread should be formatted as such:

Chime Levels


Each Chime Level has rewards that come with it.  You can unlock these by sending in for Chime checks once your Quirlicorn has reached the various levels.  
You can send in a Chime check for each individual level or you can send in to have multiple levels checked at once, whichever you prefer is fine.  

Below you can look over the different rewards that are available to Quirlicorns at each level.  

– Select Quirlicorn’s First Magic~!
— Must be a Lesser Magic from the Quirlicorns Region listed on their Official Log
—— All Regions Quirlicorns may pick from any Region’s Lesser Magic.

– Natural Gene Addition~!
— Any Natural Gene may be added to a Quirlicorn, so long as it doesn’t affect the Extension (EE) or Agouti (AA) genes.
— Ancients may add in one additional unnatural color to their coats if they so desire.
—— This does NOT include base coat mutations.
— May NOT select an Anomaly/Mutation gene.
– Magic Levels Up~!
— Quirlicorn’s Lesser Magic Reaches Level 2 Power.
-+1 Chime to all Related Quirlicorns. (+1 Total Inherited Chime)
— This applies only to ancestors and descendants. NOT SIBLINGS.

– Small/Medium Familiar Earned~!
— Familiar MUST be from the Quirlicorn’s Region.
— Familiar can be any living or extinct Small/Medium creature.
—— Small/Medium is defined loosely as a creature SMALLER than the Quirlicorn in both height and length.
— Familiar MAY BE a creature from a closed species or unnaturally colored.
—— For this Level, the creature MAY NOT have any unnatural abilities or magics.
— Familiar MAY NOT be a copyrighted character or species.
— Familiar MAY NOT be a deity or god-like being.
– Lesser Dew Blessing~!
— Select any Lesser Dew desired to be added to the bank!

– Magic Levels Up~!
— Quirlicorn’s Lesser Magic Reaches Level 3 Power.

— Quirlicorn will be granted a personal section of land.
— Mastery over All Magic of a Region.
—— Must be magic from the horse’s Region.
– Recessive Mutation Import Earned~!

— Receive a recessive copy of the region picked for Regional Magic Mastery at 1000 Chimes
—- Regional Magic gene is only applicable if Regional Magic Mastery has been picked at/from 1000 Chimes

Chime Levels for Mystics

 

Mystics have their own set of Chime levels and rewards which differ from regular Quirlicorns.  
Each level has its own set of rewards so pay close attention to your level and its rewards.  

You can send in a Chime check for each individual level or you can send in to have multiple levels checked at once, whichever you prefer is fine.  

Below you can look over the different rewards that are available to Mystics at each level.
