Guardian Updates

Guardians finally got a much needed overhaul.  It was clear for a while now that the original set up for them simply wasn’t working.  We’ve opted to try a different approach in hopes of Guardians playing a bigger role for your Quirlicorns, and as such we hope to see them not only actually getting registered, but also loved in your art and stories.

In order to achieve this we opted to remove some features that Guardians had in favor of giving them new features.
Curse removal from land has been officially retired as part of Guardians jobs (instead we will offer a new way to remove curses), as well as the magic blessings only a few Guardians gave.
If you have a Guardian that you haven’t used to remove cursed land yet, or you should have magic listed from your Guardian that isn’t in your Quirlicorns log, you are still eligible for these things as long as your Guardian was conjured/cashed out from the bank prior to December 29th 2021.

Likewise, if you have a previous Guardian that you have not yet registered and you’d like to trade it out for another Guardian you are welcome to recycle any unregister Guardians you may have for different ones.  (example: unregistered Kirin for a Dragon)

If you’d like to recycle a Guardian you can do so here: Guardians Forum
If you’d like to remove a curse from your land with your Guardian, you can do so here: Guardians Forum
If you are missing magic from your Guardian, you can get it updated here: Official Log Update Requests Forum

If you already have a registered Guardian, you will be required to get a log for them, read below for information how to do this!
Head on over to our Guardian Registration Forum and post a thread with the following information:

Title: Guardian Conversion

  • Guardian Image: Link to the image of your Guardian
  • ID: The ID Number Assigned to Your Guardian
  • Guardian’s Name: The Name you wish to give your Guardian
  • Breed: What Breed is your Guardian?
  • Gender: (Male OR Female) (We will need this information for when we allow Guardian breedings)
  • Link to Guardians Quirlicorn: Who summoned your Guardian?
  • Link to Guardians Conjuring Thread: Link proof of conjuration here.
  • Guardian Blessing Chosen: (Non Mythical Guardians may only select one of the following blessings to give their Quirlicorn: Joust Bonus, Re-roll the Bread!, or Spiral Mania)

Regional Blossoms

Regional Blossoms will now be available from select Guardians as well as through events.
Instead of adding them to the bank, you’ll start seeing them added to your Quirlicorns log instead.
Likewise you’ll see their rolls in your Quirlicorns log.
You can think of these as mini banks for your Quirlicorn, while the regular bank is for you as a whole.

When rolling blossoms from your Quirlicorns Log, you’ll just make note that they are in the log and should be rolled from there.
Once rolled they will be removed from the log and in the Item section you’ll get the item rolled.
Blossom roll items must be applied or cashed in in order to use them.  So land plots should go through the Deity Quest forum, while everything else can go through Log updates.
If you have items you don’t want to use, you are welcome to save them in your Item section.  Remember, you can re-roll items you don’t want once you have two from the same region you do not wish to use.  These can be used to roll a new item from that region.

Questing

Land quests will be updated to remove the option to quest one leg/region at a time.  We’ve found that members are not using this option anyway.
This change will make things easier for our Land Quest admin.

Additionally, expect to see new Curse Removal Quests being added in the near future.
These quests will replace the ability to remove curses via Guardians.  These quests will also open up options to be able to easily remove multiple curses from your land.
Curse removal quests will work similar to Land quests, in that you’ll have to complete prompts in the specified region(s).  However, unlike Land Quests, for these the Deities will choose your prompts for you.

Jousting

Jousting with Mystics
Jousting with Mystics has been a bit of a conundrum since their release.  Over the last few months there have been many requests to allow Mystics to joust with more than just the Regional Deities.  We heard you and will be allowing more jousting options for Mystics moving forward.

The original intent which limited Mystics was because of the Chime bonus our jousts give.  The idea was that Mystics shouldn’t be able to earn Chime as easily as regular Quirlicorns do.  Of course this decision needed some reason outside of that to fit within the lore, that’s how it was easy to say that Jousts are off limits, or may only be done with Deities becasue otherwise a Mystic would overpower our Group Horses.
A reasonable way to view things, unfortunately it restricted Mystics a lot more than we would have liked.

The good news is that we finally came up with a good solution to allow Mystics to not only be able to joust against Group Horses (as well as Deities) but also to allow them to enter the Joust pas d’Armes as well!  That’s right!  Starting 2022 you will be able to enter your Mystics in the Joust pas d’Armes as well as joust against Group Horses for our regular Joust.
The catch however is that Mystics will not be eligible for Joust Chime Bonus’.  So entering your Mystics in jousts of any kind moving forward will simply earn standard Chime values as if the art were not a Joust piece.

We also worked out a good solution to ensure the safety of all Quirlicorns who are jousting, preventing over powered Quirlicorns from wreaking havoc on those who are perhaps not even equipped with magic at all.  This change will affect all Quirlicorns so please continue reading that section below for more information.

Jousting with regular Quirlicorns

  • With jousting Quirlicorns not always being evenly matched with their magics, we’ve decided to implement a rule for all jousts that entered Quirlicorns may only use one of their magics at a time/per joust.
  • Furthermore, Quirlicorns who have not yet unlocked magic, will be eligible to ‘try on’ one magic from their region for jousting purposes.  This magic will only work during the joust, and the effects will immediately disappear as soon as the joust is over.
  • We’ll also be allowing all non Mythical Quirlicorns to joust against our Regional Deities in place of a Group Horse for our regular Jousts.

Voided Genes

With the addition of Gene Eraser, which is a Guardian blessing, we are going to allow the erasure of the E- and A- genes.
Voided genes will only occur if the E- or A- gene have been erased.
Breeding two Quirlicorns with the same E- or A- genes erased will result in those foals lacking this gene as well.

Voided genes will have the following effects:

  • E- — creates a black base coat OR an invisible base coat
  • — A- creates a red base coat OR an invisible base coat
  • E- — nCr or E- — CrCr creates a blue base coat OR an invisible base coat
  • — A- nCr or — A- CrCr creates a pink base coat OR an invisible base coat
  • E- — nCh/ChCh and — A- nCh/ChCh creates a purple base coat OR an invisible base coat
  • E- — prlprl and  — A- prlprl creates a yellow or orange base coat OR an invisible base coat
  • E- — nCh nCr/ChCh CrCr, — A- nCh nCr/ChCh CrCr and E- — Crprl, — A- Crprl create a green base coat OR an invisible base coat

Any other genes will show on top of the voided coats, like Tobiano, Sooty, Roan, Dun, etc
Mutation genes that cover the base coat will also cover voided genes.
If you choose to have an invisible coat instead of a colored one, please note that any genes not affected by void will still need to show above the invisible coat, as well as bearing in mind that horns, hooves, and eyes will also be visible.

Dew Updates

Lesser, Greater and Cursed Dews will all have the same value moving forward.
In the shop this will be a set price of 4$ per dew, reducing the price of Cursed and Greater Dews by 1$ and increasing the price of Lesser Dews by 1$.
With this change we’ll also lump all dews together as Dew of Choice in the bank.  This will remove the step of cashing Dews of Choice out to the appropriate dews before being able to use them.  Instead admins will simply remove the amount of dews being used from your Dew of Choice column in the bank.

January Incentive - Guardians

Welcome to the new year everyone! We hope to start this one off with a lot of fun. Guardians are newly released and now is your chance to get one completely effortlessly! January’s magic Conjures one Guardian of your choice to any Quirlicorn bred or Imported this month. Please note that Guardians are attached to a single horse and for this months incentive they come attached to the horse you breed or are importing. Guardians may not be transferred to another horse. When sending in your breeding or custom thread this month, please include the Guardian type you want for your Quirlicorn. As always, monthly incentives are completely voluntary so if you do not wish to add a Guardian to your Quirlicorn just let us know and we’ll skip that part for you.
